Cyanotype Workshop

  • Neat Film Lab 915 9 Avenue Southeast Calgary, AB, T2G 0S5 Canada (map)

Cyanotype photography is a camera-less technique that involves laying an object or negative on paper coated with a solution of iron salts before exposing it to UV light and washing with water to create stunning white and Prussian blue images. Cyanotype is one of the first photographic processes ever developed.

In this 3 hour, hands-on workshop, you will be creating 3 cyanotype photograms, made by arranging objects on the cyanotype sensitized paper. After learning about the history of the cyanotype, we will head out to forage for local flora to use for our photograms. You are encouraged to bring your own objects to use as well! You will design, expose to the sun, and develop in water your own cyanotypes. A UV lamp will be available if the sun is not showing up that day.

We’ll have floral-inspired beverages and snacks for you to enjoy while you work on your cyanotypes!

Only 6 spots available per workshop. This class is good for ages 12+.

$60.00 + GST | We will send you an invoice to confirm the booking.
